The first decision you need to make when designing your cake is to choose the style you prefer. The following pictures demonstrate the choices for the overall "look" of your cake.

This is an example of a 1 inch pillar cake. Each layer of cake is 1 inch higher than the previous layer using pillars. This type of cake is excellent for creating the illusion of a larger cake while still appearing "stacked". For more examples of 1 inch pillar cakes, please view our wedding photo album.
This is an example of a 3 inch pillar cake. With this type of cake, the pillars are part of the design and creates height. If you prefer a taller cake, higher pillars may be used. Pillar cakes are very classic and traditional. For more examples of 3 inch pillar cakes, please view our wedding photo album.
This is an example of a Lucite cake. This is a non-traditional design that creates the illusion of floating layers of different heights. This type of design looks wonderful with floral accents as well as candles. For more examples of Lucite cakes, please view our wedding photo album.
This is an example of a stacked and pillar cake. This type of cake is chosen to offset the cake top. This style works well whether you choose to have a fresh floral arrangement, hand-molded flowers or your own special cake top. For more examples of stacked and pillar cakes, please view our wedding photo album.
This is an example of a stacked cake. It does not have any pillars and each layer is "stacked" on top of the other. This style of cake can be made with round cakes, heart-shaped cakes or square cakes. For more examples of stacked cakes, please view our wedding photo album.
